The visa helps these businesses to fill labor market gaps while also giving priority to Australian workers. Candidates for TSS visa are allowed to include their dependent family members in the visa application. Also, once the visa holder as entered Australia via Subclass 482, he/she may travel to and from Australia multiple times as long as their visa is valid.

The Short-term stream permits Australian employers to hire skilled workers from overseas to perform jobs which can’t be sourced locally.  To apply for this visa, the applicant’s occupation must be listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation list (STSOL), and they also need an approved sponsor or Australian employer who may file the visa process on behalf of the applicant.

The short-term stream is valid for two years only. However, it can be extended for up to four years, if it is applied under an International Trade Obligation (ITO).

Medium-term stream

The medium-term working visa Australia is applicable for those who are being sponsored by an Australian employer as skilled workers. To apply for this visa, it’s important for the application to choose an occupation that is listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL). The visa pathway is valid up to 4 years.

This visa category is created for skilled professionals who have received a nomination by Australian employers through a Labour Agreement. The stream allows the visa holder to live and work in Australia on a temporary basis. Depending on the agreement, the visa holder may stay in Australia for up to 4 years.
